It's X-mas Time
It's X-mas time. I know most everyone out there in Internet Land will be spending their holidays with family. This time of the year is when all the years fun, drama, excitement, n' hate comes into play. All the family members get together n' talk about what they've been doing, exchange gifts, n' then chatter about the people that didn't make it to the gathering. Fun Fun. I'm not a big family guy but during the holidays I do make the exception of hangin out with my family for a while. As boring as it may be, and as much as I'll get ripped on, I usualy don't miss the holidays.
I don't give people much more than a couple weeks heads up. I try n' prevent people from purchasing gifts for me. Makes it easier handing out mine. lol. Speaking of my gift, if ya'll need a quick but relatively cool gift package for your family then you can steal mine if you wish. I got a buncha those little cd holders from the local store. I think each one holds like 25 or so CD's. I'm customizing the exterior of every one of em so the binder says the persons name it's for and the front n' back has some kindof lame graphic that better fits their personality. Easy enough. Inside the case is what matters more. The first few cd's will be the “Use these to keep your computer alive” cd's jam packed full of crap like Firefox, Adaware, Spybot, Nod32, Adobe Acrobat etc. I've managed to put together a nice big list of software I load up on every pc I fix. Then I'm gunna burn off every full movie I've ever downloaded under 730somethin megs n' randomly put them in the cases. I've got 100's of those mainly from a friend who consistantly downloads. heh. I've also got my hands wrapped around a few hundred games I'm going to toast off. My uncles and dad (the computer literate ones) are gunna get a copy of every OS since the dawn of time including readhat (just as a joke). I'm gunna split the video games up n' hookup my uncles with first person shooters. and my brother with some rpgs. My baby cousin with some sponge bob vids n' kids games. Everything I've listed I've downloaded either free or illegaly which most of my family has no beef with. But to top it off. i'd realy like to get my uncles each an original copy of Doom3.
Now for the custom part….
Each cd will be setup wth an Auto-Run .html file that'll list the contents of the cd. and if I can pull it off for my grandpa I want to toss in a few cd's of instructional videos for em that I've been trying to find software to make. If anyone knows of any. please point me to some open source (or freeware) software that'll let me record my desktop as I do stuff to record isntrucitonal videos.
And then to top the cake.
I havn't registered the domain name. but I've been working on the layout for maybe www.houghtelin.com or something family related so all the fmaily members can login n' post. Forums, messages. etc. It won't get used much but then everyone can have an @houghtelin.com email and so on .. should be pretty kewl.
