Still Excited!!!

March 23rd, 2005 by Josh Houghtelin

As you already know. I bought a brand new CBR600RR last Friday night. This is going to be a fairly long post. I'm going to attempt to sum up the last three days of intense excitement into a few paragraphs but thats never how it works…

The DEALERSHIP — Procycle USA, Springfield MO
Unfortunately I have to recommend them for their prices. Nobody in missouri will be able to beat their prices on bikes period end of story. www.procycleusa.com . But beyond that everything else about em sucks (except the hot chick that does the paperwork who rides a brand new R6). I called them two days ahead of time and asked if they still had a black tribal 05 600rr in stock and they said yes and I told em I would come up to get it in a couple days. I called the day before I went up and asked if it was still waiting for me I'll be comming up the next day… I called the day of telling them I might be a little late (they close at 8) but to be there with my bike ready… they said “come on up. it's waiting for you”. I got there and they didn't have a tribal 600rr in stock. Nobody payed attention to me after I announced my existance. It took atleast 30 minutes for anyone to help me and after simlpy stating they didn't have one in stock I spent another 15 - 20 min alone doing jack shit. Their customer service and sales blow. After dickin around there for about an hour I finaly got out with my bike. I payed $250 over the quoted “out the door” price which royaly pissed me off becuase I came prepared to pay the price that was quoted. I bitched and NEARLY left without the bike. That place SUCKS.

Day 1 - Saturday
I had no plates for the bike cuz they wouldn't give me a temp tag and the DMV wasn't open that saturday so I went riding without em. I had the bill of sale so I wasn't stressin it. I was legit. *minus the fact my biking permit expired almost a year ago*. details. details. details. I spent nearly the entire day from around 10.30am to 5.pm riding and breaking in the bike with two other friends. It was absolutely awsome. It was cold as hell (low 40's all day) but I dealt with it just cuz I wanted to ride so bad. I got a feel for the limitless power the bike has to offer. Drives me crazy knowing I can't ride it right now. *eeeee*… After a nice long fulllll day of riding I shacked up the bike for the night feeling realy good about how I rode (broke it in) ….

Day 2 - Sunday
Still no plates.. Still no permit. but It was much warmer. 'round 10 degrees warmer which made riding much more pleasurable (at noon). I started the day off tired as all hell but rode anyway. went to burg (30 miles) and slept in a car that was sitting ready for paint in warrensburg chrystlers body shop waiting on my two friends to finish up their work so we could ride. after an hour or two nap we rode out. We dilly dallied around for 'bout 30 minutes before stopping and sending blank stares to each other wondering wtf we were gunna do… at that very moment another rocket rider wizzed by so we decided to chase em. tahst when the day started getting interesting. Within 30 minutes of that moment we were riding with 5 or 6 other rockets. It was a blast. We had some very seasoned racers tool us around and show us the good squirrely twisty ass roads to have fun on. It was interesting to break about 100 laws after deducting the fact we never rode below the speed limit but with that aside it was a complete blast. You get an unusualy odd feeling of comfort tearing up the road with a buncha other riders. we ate miles and miles and miles (I ran ~180 that day) of pavement before we all traded ph one numbers and split up for the night…… INTENSE riding all day. it rocked. Not to end the day there~! On my way home after I split up from everyone I ran into a dude riding an old ninja bustin out crazy wheelies n' shit… fun day. fun fun day… can't wait to rinse n' repeat most of the summer long. GREAT HOBBIE!

Day 3 - monday
rain. rain. rain. it's gunna rain all week. lol. it's eating me alive!!!!!! Oh well. I got the plates for my bike and paid the taxes, next week is supposed to promote absolutely fantastic weather. and it gives me an oportunity to go snatch up my permit again. fun shit. lets RIDE!!!!!
