My brother Matt Houghtelin in the Newspaper

Call me a post whore today but I ran across an old newspaper article on the net that quoted my brother. It's from “The Columbus Dispatch” ~ An Ohio Online Newspaper

A week earlier, Spc. Matthew Houghtelin was driving a military truck when a homemade bomb exploded 10 feet behind it.

“Somebody triggered it after I got by,” Houghtelin, 19, of Crosby, Minn., said. “I thought, ‘Oh damn, I blew out a tire,’ and then looked out the mirror and saw a big ball of fire and got the hell out of there.

“My family was nervous. They worried that I wouldn’t come home safe, but that’s what I’m doing.”

Kindof reminds me of his stories of being over in Iraq. His truck being armored to the hilt in the rear, his adventures of running over cars n' blocking traffic from passing. His “army supported” ability assume every other unit that wasn't an american troop was first an enemy, THEN later they'd determine the level of hostility.. Although that may be after they ran em off the road. lol.

Gotta watch for those IED's. I.mprovised E.xplosive D.evices. or something like that. Crazy kid, I'm pretty sure he (as a mechanic at the time) didn't have to go blastin bullets at the enemy lines but he sure as hell did come back seeming a bit blood thirsty. Shoot first, ask questions later.. I've heard a fair amount about the 50cal mounted to his truck.
