Ruby 1.6 & MySQL 5.x — No problem

July 31st, 2005 by Josh Houghtelin

I noticed I didn't have ruby support on Adkins BSD server so I Installed it & MySQL5 out of the ports collection. I had recently updated my ports collection to install PHP5 so it was a simple operation. Neither packages gave me any crap during instillation.

It takes me a little bit to wind down all the extra syntax crap but after I catch on Ruby makes everything easy. I need a good book on the topic. .. A '[Complete] Ruby Refference Manual' would probably be the most effective.

I've been brushing up on my BSD skills a bit lately. I want to get a colocated server. A little more power & redundancy never hurts (assuming I need a reason to want another server). I just want something to play with.
