Vote
. . One of the saddest things I've seen in politics lately is that the only people that consistently vote are the old people. Unless it's a presidential election, voter turnout is generally between 20 and 30 percent of registered voters. During the presidential you can hit the 50 percent range of registered voters. Call your courthouse and ask what department runs elections. If you live in Missouri ask for your county clerk. They can tell you (if you don't find it on the net) how many registered voters you have as well as how many people live in the county. They don't match. So, on average, we have a small percentage of a small percentage of people within every county that actually gets off their lazy asses and votes. I wouldn't consider someone an active voter if the only time they vote is during a presidential election. If everyone would stop complaining and start doing something, things would change. Willingly distancing yourself from the machine that runs our world by not voting is retarded. If you just don't give a shit then please sit quietly in the crowd.
Volunteer
. . The next step is to actually become a part of the system itself. You have to learn how things work. Volunteer to be a judge at your next election. You have to wake up relatively early and hang out all day but you get paid for it. You also get training on how the elections and election equipment in your county works. Understanding how things tick inside our government helps a lot. Once you catch up to speed you can start pulling weight.
. . Whether you’re an activist or just like to voice your opinion once in a while, it really helps out to know how everything ticks and who everyone is. There are huge gaps in major parts of our government (and religion if you want to get into it) that need the proactive support of younger people.
