Synergy.. again

September 30th, 2005 by Josh Houghtelin

I already posted about Synergy here but it wasn't enough.

Synergy, as defined in Wikipedia [Link]: Synergy or synergism, most often refers to the phenomenon of two or more discrete influences or agents acting in common to create an effect which is greater than the sum of the effects each is able to create independently.

The software hits that description on the nose. I installed SUSE 9.1 on an extra computer I had lying around and just for shits n' grins I figured I would install synergy on it and see if it would connect up to my XP box. I downloaded the RPM. Clicked on it n' Yast took care of the rest. Suse's install is damn near windows simple. I had no idea how easy they've made it to run linux on a home desktop PC. Now I need to find another small 15″ LCD to add to my desk @ home so I can sport a little SUSE box in the corner. I love it.

When do computers just become a waste of electricity? … Using synergy to tie computers together into one huge workstation/desktop keeps making me want to “just add one more”. lol. More is better right? Synergy rocks. As soon as I can afford to get out from under all these bulky CRT's I'm going to nail my LCD's to the wall and won't be limited to desktop realty. Oooh yes.
