First time home buyer?

October 8th, 2005 by Josh Houghtelin

Due to a strange chain of events that all happened within a couple minutes I may be purchasing a house. Googles View of the location. Of course googles images don't actually show the house tho'. Oooold archive of the area. Very old.

Anywho. I was talking to my landlord because I spaced off rent again (They took my bill pay away.. Those bastards) so i called em up to let em know It was on it's way. I was also curious about knowing who was living in the units around me since there has been a lot of moving about of people. I asked what he would be renting out one of his recently vacated houses for. He told me $550 but he's really looking for a buyer. The previous owner was on a rent-to-buy deal but bailed on it I guess. Either way, he told me he needed to have the house re-done (The whole process the lesser gets to go through after each lessee ) and then see where things stand but the house would be in the $70k ballpark.

I told em I hadn't intended on purchasing a house anytime soon but I was interested in it because of it's location. Just to make sure I could play ball I gave my grandma (Priscilla Moran) a call and asked her if I could get her support in buying a house. (*)Of course my awesome grandma said both her and Bob would support my decision to purchase a house 'round here if I chose to so getting the loan won't be a problem. Awesome.

I'm going to see what is available around here and thoroughly inspect the house in question to be 100% sure I want to do this. That seems to be the only thing standing between Zippy & I being in our first place home.

(*) My Grandma and Bob have taught me a lot about credit & money in general. They've definitely helped set my direction & motives on the topic. Shortly after I graduated high school I asked them how I would go about buying land and they pointed me to the man from which they purchased their acreage, Delmer Kohl. It didn’t take a couple weeks to make arrangements for me to purchase a 5-acre piece of wooded land on the edge of good fishin’ waters from em. That was my first large purchase and both my grandma and Bob were standing right there when the transaction went down. They backed that up 100% and told me to come to them if I ever had problems. Everyone made it clear I had no reason to let the land ‘go’. I haven’t ever had to ask em for help paying for it or anything of that sort so I figured they would be down with helping me out. So on this footnote I’m going to fully credit Bob & My Grandma for the fact that I already have some nice land and the power to purchase the house of my choice. I really appreciate it. Love you guys!
