Extreme flying!
Extreme is a fun explination for todays lesson. It included some interesting new items I hadn't expected. We had the oportunity to play with some cross wind. I particularly like a little cross wind when taking off. It's not enough to realy mess with you but it requires the pilot to sortof lightly 'hop' off the runway. Just a quicker lift off the ground.
Landing is interesting. I realy don't have the feel for flying a plane banked & straight at the same time yet. It's a mix of rudder & ailerons to keep a small bank but fly straight in a crosswind so you touch one weel down before the other when landing, but most importantly you stay over the runway.
We also landed in a field twice. I was told a brush hog like tool is used to clear the area. My palms got a little sweaty flying with the wind shaking us around next to a house, over some trees, & down into a grassy field. Calm verbal instruction made the learning process very swift. I think I apreciated the interesting field takeoff more than setting it down but either way I can say I landed in a field now. w00t. The whole thing realy puts into perspective how to emergency land 'round here. Too many powerlines near the road so it's generaly safer to set down on farmland or a field of sorts..
I've only been in the air for 8.7 hours now (I believe). Crazy shit.
