Josh,
I feel for you with your situation. I also know that sometimes we have to lower our standards to get a step ahead in life. You and I have had many conversations about work in the big cities and what is out there. The money that is being paid to some of these people is crazy. We both also know that you like myself have no formal education. I am not saying this is a bad thing it just limits the doors that are open to us. I learned long ago that doors only open once so take a step through while you can.
Lets look at this another way. If you stay where you are right now using the programs you like. You have limited yourself to half of the total equation. If you learn .net then you have the best of both worlds and have to take a back seat to no one. Having the whole thing computes to $$$$$$$.
Good luck with your decision!

P.S. I already know your decision as you will not settle for second best.....LOL
