Kirby Puckett died.

No good. Kirby Puckett was one of my favorite baseball players of all time.
Kirby Puckette was…

  • the first Baseball player I ever recognized.
  • the first Baseball player I ever got a signature from.
  • the only Baseball player I ever got a second signature from.
  • the only Baseball player I ever focused collected baseball cards for (I have a lot of Puckett cards).
  • the only Baseball player I’ve ever been bummed to see leave the game (after his injury).
  • the only Baseball player I’ve ever written (and most likely ever will write) a blog post about.
  • Fuckin awsome.
  • Kirby Puckett Died

I’m not exactly a large sports fan but when I was younger, and Puckett was still playing, I was quite the Puckett fan. I believe my late Grandma Houghtelin had quite a bit to do with that. Not something I will soon forget.

I was wondering if you remembered the Kerby Puckett deal with your late Grandma. I also remember her trying to interest you in baseball because of Kerby!

I think all of us who grew up in our generation and lived in MN were huge Kerby Puckett fans. When we lived in Bloomington for a while I lived within walking distance of his house. Whenever his car was in the drive we(my little brother and I) used to go sneak into the woods between the houses and see if we could see him.
