Google Desktop? I need a better app.

I just tried out Google Desktop for the first time. I don’t have much good to say about it. I could see how it could be cool but not for me I guess. With technology these days I would say I am one of the least paranoid people out there when it comes to the information available but it still makes me extremely paranoid knowing that google wants to archive the text from all of my files on my computer onto their server. They may have every security measure in the world to protect that but I just can’t get over the severe chill that ran down my spine when I read that google had to backup all the textual data on my computer in order for their search to work. The whole file sharing to other computers concerned me as well.

The email didn’t seem to connect up to my gmail but when I had my outlook open it started showing items from my junk mail account I have on there next to all my other email accounts which pretty much made that useless. There might be a setting to fix that, I don’t kow.

The news didn’t seem all that good, I already have RSS Bandit lurking in the tray bringing me what I want.

The notes are a great idea but I already have DeskTask helping me there. I did use Nbox for my notes for a while but it got decomissioned when I installed DeskTask.

Aside from the fact google desktop kindof scares me, I just don’t have much of a use for it. What I would realy like to see though is a plugin that works with outlook to text message me all my scheduled appointments on the calendar X amount of minutes beforehand. It’d be awsome if BitBomb rocked that mod. Maybe when I get some free time I’ll start working on such a thing.
