New server at work.

w00t. I put together a new server for work. I’m not a hardware guy by any means so the computer itself probably isn’t as ‘hardcore’ as it could be but that doesn’t negate the fact that it is always fun replacing old hardware with fresh new stuff. I would have to say I especially enjoy doing so when it’s scheduled like this operation was rather then being an emergency repair. I came into work after hours a couple days ago and blingo blango took everything offline for about 2 hours and it all worked as it should when it came back up. *Hugs FreeBSD* Too simple.

All the services from the old server (the 4u rack mount at the top) have been shut down but I can’t bring myself to decommission the machine from the network. Good, lasting hardware rocks. More automated backups. lol.

A pic amidst getting things re-organized.
New server @ work.

That’s a funny pic if you think about it. You have a tower sitting inside of a rack.

Yeah. Actualy I thought the Windows XP cd sitting on top of the new FreeBSD server was funny.

The reason that tower is sitting inside the rack is becuase the little closet the rack is in has it’s enviornment completely controlled down to the humidity and ozone in the air. Oh yeah, and becuase my dumbass didn’t buy a rack mount case. hah.
