Zippy, Paul & I are running about this morning checking to make sure if we have everything. We are going to San Diego for a conference of sorts. In between meetings and such we are going to find our way around San Diego to see some sights. It’s been a long time since I’ve visited California so this trip was overdue.
Wish us safe travels.
I’ll be back
^_^ hehehe.

Someone had thrown a link to ebay auctions selling joost invites in IRC today so I visited Joost.com to see what it was.

Joost is a new way of watching TV on the internet. With Joost, you get all the things you love about TV, including a high-quality full-screen picture, hundreds of full-length shows and easy channel-flipping.
I never watch TV becuase of commercials and the fact it’s based on some weak ‘you watch what we stream when we stream it’ technology. This leaves me with video blogs, google video and Netflix. All of which are cool methods of pushing video media but have their fall backs. I would like to try this Joost.com service if anyone has an invite to send me. But then again, I’d have to find a computer to run it on. I understand there is no linux support yet.
2007-05-09 17:04:49 < @x2180[work]> everything i read about joost said it sucked
2007-05-09 17:05:07 < @x2180[work]> as if it was just a glorified youtube or something
2007-05-09 17:05:42 < @coldsteal> does it work on linux
2007-05-09 17:05:54 < @x2180[work]> last i read it didn’t
2007-05-09 17:06:01 < @x2180[work]> but i think they did plan on releasing it for linux
2007-05-09 17:06:29 < @coldsteal> it would be nice for mythtv
2007-05-09 17:06:52 < @x2180[work]> the biggest problem with joost, from what i understand
2007-05-09 17:07:06 < @x2180[work]> is that the movie industry doesn’t like letting people do what they want with movies
2007-05-09 17:20:53 < @livinded> ya, they have very little content on joost
2007-05-09 17:20:58 < @livinded> and it’s currently really slow
Even though this review (on IRC) is abismal, I’d still like to give it a try myself. Zippy might let me put the client on her computer. ^_^
I actually made it back Sunday night but have been too lazy to post. I had a great time in Europe but I’m definitely glad to be back in the US. I enjoyed the history lesson but the culture shock gets old. I got frustrated since I was unable to communicate with ANYONE. heh.
I’m still uploading pictures but check out the whole gallery here.
The last shot of me with Italy in the background.

Monte-Carlo Casino

written
where: the louge on the ship.
when: 6:pm ship time.
I can now say I have been in the Monte-Carlo Casino. Unfortunately I have to sadly report that the Monte-Carlo Casino is lame beyond any level of lameness. You can’t speak, you can’t have phones, you can’t have cameras, you can’t cheer, the slots don’t make noise, it’s super easy to get kicked out, and to top it all off they charge you 10 euro just to get in the door. I definately have no interest in going there again.
Wednesday night I took to the land somewhere around two in the morning to check out Monoco’s night scene. I was surprised to find the clubs hopping to late 80’s american music. The liquore was insanely expensive and of course nobody spoke english. I made it to a couple clubs before getting kicked out of the last one. I think the name of it was ‘life styles’. I was told that I got kicked out becuase I put my wind breaker on and since I had no means of communicating that I had no idea why they wanted me out, they just booted me. After walking half way across Monoco to get back to the ship at 4 to 5 in the morning I realized this area is far to expensive to have bums and criminals. I think the police can really throw a beating as well. I’m sure that helps. I felt really safe walking around alone at that time of the morning.
Today (thursday) the weather is starting to get crazy so I went down to ocean side and recorded some video of the water smashing into the rocks. I underestimated the power of the waves when one came up and nearly plowed me over. I’ll post the video when I can. I hope my camera still works after it dries out.
We ‘JUST’ left the port and the boat is reaaaly rocking side to side so I’m going to wrap this up and take a nap. This kind of motion seems to almost instantly cause me to begin yawning.
