Zippy and I got a refrigerator last week and filled it with food. Zippy is the chef, dietitian, nutritionist, herbalist, farmer, & resident food expert in my world which means I eat some pretty healthy stuff. I would say the food in our house is at least 70% organic with at least 20% of the remaining food being all natural. The remaining 10% (or less) of food in our house is ‘normal‘. I think so many people completely miss the benefit of buying real food. I know I have. I don’t even sit very high on the organic fence but I definitately know it’s good for you. If even just the thought. Here is a simple example.
.. You get the idea. It’s all synthetic crap. It’s what most people I know eat. It’s what I’ve spent the majority of my life eating. It’s not that I can’t find organic versions of this food. I just don’t try to find food with any health association. When eating with the organic mindset it makes eating healthy damn near impossible to fail.
My shopping list with ‘organic’ on the mind tends to lean toward more natural foods like raw fruits, vegetables, & meats. It even makes buying things like ranch dressing and sugar easy to do in a whole, healthy manner. It whole food, not pieces!

How the heck do you get 3.5 cups of vegetables and a couple cups of fruit from TV dinners? And if I’m going to eat an apple or raw broccoli instead of some crappy re-homogenated-superglycerinooted food then why not eat real organic food instead of stuff that’s been fed poison, chemically altered, or even possibly painted? At the very tail end of that whole argument I’d like to also add that I personally feel a little better inside when I buy food from a local guy.
And to think the odds of me having made this transition over the last 3 years would have been zero to slim if it hadn’t of been for Zippy. I’m really glad Zippy has such a strong opinion about what she allows her body to consume. With that in mind, this post doesn’t necessarily reflect her thoughts in any way on the topic of organic. It’s just me rambling on about another one of those “duh” moments. Time to finish my vegetable snack and get back to work. =)
