F#*$%@( NOISEY SCREEN SAVERS!
The next laptop I order for work may very well be thrown straight across my office if it’s ‘out of the box’ screensaver makes any noise for any reason! SCREEN SAVERS WERE NOT MEANT TO MAKE NOISE! As a matter of fact! They don’t even serve ANY real purpose anymore.
My request to laptop makers: Quit pre-loading my workstations with noise-making screen savers! PLEASE! I don’t even bitch about all the extra fluff-ware that comes on these things. But a screen saver that makes senseless swooshing noises? You’re pushing the line of stupidity. I haven’t even started bitching about those screen savers on the laptops with built in cameras showing 2 or 3 active videos of what it sees. That’s annoying enough. but noise? come on…
Ok. The machine is off. Back to work.
I think the MacBook line is about to get an upgrade… Maybe time to take a look at those - or maybe a BEAUTIFUL iMac…? I have parallels running Windows AND Linux too… The ultimate in flexibility - without noisy screen savers OR bundle-crap-trial-ware!

Mac is not a certified platform for any available election software. It would be killer to have that option. I would line us up with Apple hardware pretty quick if I could exercise that option but all of our workstations have to be able to run election software and the government certification requirements for election hardware & software are quite specific.
I have bent the rules slightly for myself and may possibly bend them further (note: not breaking the rules) by using the Intel/Apple platform as my laptop/workstation as long as I can hard boot into the necessary operating system. It’s definitely something I have been looking in to. I just don’t want to stand out quite yet. Not until after the presidential.
