Zippy and I went to Powell Gardens for the first day of their Butterfly Festival as we did last year.

Even the Haqurfly was found on the scene again this year.
It was really hot this year ( I remember it being kind of hot last year ) so we didn’t stay as long as we did last year but it was awesome none the less. It’s always fun to walk around a botanical garden for a few hours and see butterflies flying around.
I’m in Texas because I’m attending a weeks worth of training for a bunch of new election equipment. Some of which I ( along with the general public ) haven’t seen before. I’m always excited to learn something new so this is pretty cool. We probably won’t make use of this information for quite a while though. I can say I’ve met some pretty cool people here. I also had the opportunity to put faces to a bunch of people I’ve known for quite a while but only through email & phone calls.
I believe they will stop packing our minds with information Thursday night which gives us all of Friday to return home. In the mean time I’m camping out in the Hilton if you just so happen to be in the area.

Work shipped me and a few other Co-Workers out here for a week of training. Fun stuff.
We (Joyce, Brent, Charlotte & Myself) were on our way down to Allen Texas when we stopped at a Chilli’s to grab a quick bite to eat. I ordered a Budweiser and was asked if I had my “membership card”. Apparently when you are in ‘Dry Counties’ down here in Texas you can’t drink alcohol unless you are a card carrying member. That of course meant I had to fill out a short form so I could order & drink beer in Texas. Watch Out! I am now licensed to drink! Pictures to come.
Brent was trying to explain to me how some places in Texas required that you ‘be a member’ before they served you alcohol. It surprised the crap out of me when I got asked for my membership card when I tried to order a beer. It didn’t take a few seconds to sign up. I am now a card carying member of the drinking elite in Texas. (minus the drinking elite part I think)
